Essence of Having Patience in Life and Business

In our ever growing global society of today, patience is one virtue that is very hard to come by. Everyone is in a hurry to achieve one goal or the other in life that no one has a little time to wait and ponder before diving in. Patience is the act of waiting, been calm, not reacting swiftly, pondering over issues before taking a decision. It is the ability to control one’s emotions or impulses and proceed calmly when faced with difficult situations. Patience is one of the best virtues to have in life as the benefits we gain from patience are unique; and there is no substitute for it.

Benefit of been Patient

1)      Good listeners: Been patient enables us to be very good listeners, this helps us to act more precisely and not take rash decisions.
2)      Pleasant personality: Having patience makes it easy for people to be around you. This is because you are not easily irritated or angered. No one wants to be friends with people who get angry easily.
3)      Empathy: A patient mind is the only mind that can accommodate the thoughts of others pain and suffering. Patience takes you away from the ‘’me alone’’ syndrome. When you are in a hurry to do things, you really don’t care if you hurt someone as long as you achieve what you want, but patience gives us the opportunity to think of others as we try to achieve the set goals enabling us to put ourselves in their own shoes and decide the right path to take that won’t hurt so much people. It’s easy to make quick judgments about the value of our staffs or projects, but in most cases it’s only by being patient that we know if our judgments are accurate
4)      Growth: Patience fosters growth. It makes us see clearly what we are about to embark on. This is done by watering, feeding and tending to those aspects of our lives and business where we want growth.
5)      Reduces Stress: When you are patient, your stress is reduced as a result of your not jumping to quick conclusions and not in a hurry to achieve some goals.

Having patience can help you endure a long wait, feel better about yourself, and make you more pleasant to be around generally. It is a virtue that we must have to go through life’s journey.

11 reasons you should be smiling all the time

Smiling is the second best thing you can do with your lips after eating. A genuine smile involves the lips and the eyes, while fake smiles involve just the lips. Endorphins are responsible for making us feel happy, and they are released when we smile or laugh, they also help lower stress levels. Faking a smile or laugh works as well as the real thing, the brain doesn’t differentiate between real or fake as it interprets the positioning of the facial muscles in the same way. Women generally smile more than men, although this still depends on the situation. Smiling improves your health, your stress level, and your attractiveness.
Benefits of smiling
1)      Smiling is one of the ways  to reduce distress caused by an upsetting situation.
2)      A smile helps us to hide what we really think about someone or a situation.
3)      Smiling makes you appear more approachable. Interaction with others is easier and more enjoyable.
4)      Smiling makes us attractive. We are naturally  drawn to people who smile.
5)      Smiling Is Contagious, a smiling person brings happiness with them , they lighten up the room and change the moods of others.
6)      Smiling makes us feel good which also increases our attentional flexibility and our ability to think holistically.
7)      Smiling makes a person look younger. The muscles we use to smile lift the face, making a person appear younger.
8)      Smiling slows the heart and relaxes the body. This lets the heart work without overworking. People who smile and laugh often are less likely to develop heart disease.
9)      Smiling helps to change our mood. your mood will change for the better when you start smiling.
10)  Smiling is just one fun way to live longer as it improves your stress level and health.
11)  Smiling helps in blood pressure reduction by calming our nerves down.

Never give up on your dreams

I remembered this story from a very popular daily devotional earlier this year 2014. It is a story about three men who had spent three months looking(prospecting) for diamonds, in the Venezuelan coast. One of the three men named Solano Rafael, woke up one morning feeling very discouraged and exhausted, told his friends he is through with searching for diamonds, he said "I have picked 999,999 stones so far, and there is no trace of a diamond, if I pick up another , it will be 1,000,000 so what's the use I am quitting'' but one of his two friends encouraged him to pick another to make it a total of 1,000,000 stones at least. Solano put his hand on a pile of stones pulled out one (the last one) but, the last one was a very odd looking stone, when he looked closely behold it was a diamond and Solano was paid $200,000 for that diamond and it was the purest diamond ever found.

There is a saying that a man without a dream or goal in life is a dead man. We all have various dreams and aspirations in life, but what are we doing to achieve such dreams? Here are some tips

1) Be focused. Always be focused . Don't allow yourself to be swayed by people who don't understand your dream.
2) Surround yourself with friends that will encourage you. Like the story above , if Solano had not been encouraged to pick that last stone which turned out to be a diamond , you probably would never have heard about this story.
3) Always work towards achieving your dream. Rome wasn't built in a day, it was been built daily till it got to what we all see. Start small and daily build that dream.
4) Never be discouraged. Never ever give up. Always keep pressing on You might end up with more than a diamond.

Good Kharma

I came across this nice write up written by The Dalai Lama. Just read and think over it. If everyone can have this as their guide to life, the world would be a better place.

1) Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk

2) When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.

3) Follow the three R’s in life: Respect for self, Respect for others and Responsibility for all your actions.

4) Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

5) Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.

6) Don’t let a little dispute injure a great relationship.

7) When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

8) Spend some time alone every day.

9) Open your arms to change, but don’t give up your values.

10) Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer

11) Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.

12) A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.

13) In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.

14) Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality.

15) Be gentle with the earth.

16) Once a year, go to a place you have never been before and enjoy.

17) Remember the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.

18) Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

19) Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.

Be mindful of your words

I got the story below from a very close friend of mine Sil this morning, and had to share it because it did inspire me . Please read and I hope it does inspire you too.

''When I was a child, my mom always prepares food for us. One night in particular when she had  made dinner after a long day's work, mom placed a plate of subzi (Indian curry) and extremely burnt roti(bread) in front of my dad.

I was waiting to see if anyone noticed the burnt roti. But, Dad just ate his roti and asked me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember I heard mom apologizing to dad for the burnt roti.

Later that night, I went to kiss dad, good night and I asked him if he really liked his roti burnt. He wrapped me in his arms and said: '' Your mom put in a long hard day at work today and she was really tired. And besides he said a burnt roti never hurts anyone but harsh words do!''

You know life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people. Learn to accept peoples faults and choose to celebrate relationships. Life is too short to wake up with regrets! Love the people who make you happy and forget the ones who don't. Enjoy life while you still can and learn to be good to others. Treat people with respect, be mindful of harsh words.

Attaining Peace of mind

Peace of mind is something most people don't have, they smile at you but, wrestle all the time with their inner mind.

Here are some few tips to free your mind:

* Talk to God : Seek the opinion of your creator, and ask the purpose of your existence. Pray about it.

* Believe in yourself:  Always believe in yourself that you can do anything. If you don't believe in yourself how then do you want others to believe in you

* Be responsible: You are the driver of your own destiny, be humble and own up to all your actions

* Read Books : Read books so you can learn because no one knows it all. Especially motivational books. Learn from people's stories, mistakes and achievements.

* Be focused and determined and you will achieve all your dreams.

* Always do the things you love, and love what you do, and the road to having peace in your mind will not be far from you.
