Ladies: Want to wear that high heel? Know this first before you wear them.

What is a woman without a little high heel shoe? Absolutely nothing! Women love to wear heels all the time, it makes them feel sexy, confident and gives them a kind of cat work runway gait as they work. Women do love their high heels, but if you wear them all the time, you might get foot pain and other problems can ensue such as corns.  High heels are not for everyone, some can wear heels for a long time and walk long hours with it while others can’t even stand properly in heels. But women are such a complex people who always want to be current with the latest fashion trend even to the detriment of their health.

We all know heels hurt and they’re bad for us, causing corns and callouses, bunions and back pain but we wear them. And still, many women refuse to give up their high heels. So here are a few tips to a healthy foot if you must wear heels:

1)      Don’t wear tight heels no matter how fashionable they look. Anytime you wear shoes that are tight, it is bound to cause foot pain.
2)      Buy shoes with leather lining not plastic. They are softer and more supple and less likely to rub.
3)      Soak your feet in ice or very cold water if you have worn heels all day to reduce feet swelling.
4)      Apply foot cream on your feet before going to bed to prevent it from cracking and blistering.

Note: Don’t get caught up with all the craziness of trying to wear the latest fashion trends. If you can’t wear heels, simply wear a flat shoe.

What women should know about breast cancer prevention

Cancer! Cancer!! Cancer!!! Cancers are the new killers .There are various forms of cancers but women are affected most by breast cancer. Breast cancer is associated with a state of excess estrogens, known as estrogen dominance. Uterine fibroids, breast cysts, PMS and infertility can be related to estrogen dominance in the body. Food most certainly is regarded as the best medicine, but it can also be the biggest poison in our body system, remember we are what we eat. But there are some things we can do to prevent breast cancer as women.

1)      Keep a healthy lifestyle. Don’t smoke, and try as much as possible to reduce alcohol intake. Overweight, inactivity and alcohol all increase risk for breast cancer, and smoking increases risk in some women. Alcohol changes the way estrogen is metabolized in our body, which can lead to estrogen dominance. Women who drink alcohol have higher body estrogen levels than those who don’t.
2)      Do regular breast self-exams and breast massage.
3)      Breast-feed your babies for as long as possible. Forget about your breast sagging, you are indirectly saving your own life by breast-feeding your baby. Women, who breast-feed their babies for over six months or more, have a reduced risk of developing breast cancer.
4)      Exercise regularly. Aerobic exercise reduce the risk of breast cancer development, by changing the metabolism of estrogen in our body.
5)      Eat antioxidant-rich foods like organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, and healthy fats and oils like avocado and olive oil.
6)      If you are over 40, get a mammogram. Early detection of breast cancer offers the best chance for a cure. Don’t put off screening because of discomfort or fear of the results. A mammogram should never be painful. To reduce discomfort, try to schedule the exam after your monthly period, when breast tissue is less sensitive.
7)      Avoid overnight work shifts for long stretches. Keeping a regular daily schedule and limiting the number of years that you pull overnight shift works may reduce your breast cancer risk by 33 percent,  continued exposure to light at night is associated with 1.5 to 2.5% fold increased breast cancer risk.
8)      Avoid canned foods, which are lined with the hormone disruptor BPA. Choose organic foods, since many pesticides are hormone disruptors and can end up in food and ground water.
9)      Make sure you actually need that X-ray or CT scan. Both can give important information for medical diagnoses, but there's no such thing as a safe dose of radiation, which is the most documented environmental cause of breast cancer. So be careful to limit medical radiation, and ask your doctor if there are any alternative tests that don't use radiation (such as ultrasounds)
10)   Choose perfumes, shampoos, conditioners, etc., that are free of parabens and synthetic fragrance (which can contain phthalates and synthetic musk).

Sugar activates cancer genes and fuels growth of cancer cells. Try to eliminate sugar from your diet.

Education and Working Women

With all the campaign on ''Bring back our girls'', I have been inspired to write about educating women and the career woman syndrome.

More women are getting educated in Nigeria lately especially in the northern parts. Some of the most qualified women are, actually from the northern part of the country. Women are not ''rubber stamps'' or slaves, and a girl education is never a waste of money.

Every human being irrespective of gender has a right to be who they want to be in life. Humans were created to work men and women alike, so women too can be educated and work as well as men. Traditionally in remote parts of the country, it is believed that a woman's place is in the home at the side of her husband and if educated and work, they might loose their feminine nature. But the type of work available in recent times are not the hard labour types, but jobs based on skills and education that women are very good at, so gender doesn't really matter. Moreover children and teenagers are running businesses on the internet lately, so likewise women can also work from home.

They are various businesses that don't require you going  to an office  daily, so ladies don't have to be deceived by the ''career women''  syndrome. You can work from wherever you are, just find something you are really good at and start off.

Every woman has been created for a special purpose and every woman has a specific field that her name will define.

What do women want in relationship

mmmmmmmmm (sighs), this is a bit tough because, I as a woman most times don't know what I want. Women are very complex beings, and getting what they want in general is usually a very difficult task. What one woman likes in a relationship is different from what another woman wants. Me for instance I like a man who can cook, but to some ladies a man that can cook is an abomination , they would prefer their men to depend on them for daily meals.

Generally here are a few of what I think most women want (just my view)

1) Security : Every woman wants to be protected by her partner no matter how wealthy that lady is. Security can be in the form of defense or monetary value. This is why most girls would marry for money and not for love.

2) Affection: Women love to be cared for, pampered like a child and adored all the time( though in reality men don't have the time for this)

3) Appreciated : All women love to be appreciated for a job well done by their partners

4) Admired: I think this ought to be the 1st point (laughs), all women love to be told they are beautiful over and over again.

What do you think women want????
